AI ‘misunderstood’ by companies: Builder.AI Founder

Artificial Intelligence's staggering rise in the last few months has left investors confident in its ability to transform sectors; it's also forcing companies to adjust their game plans. Some experts however, are seeing a different side of the story, as valuations of AI-related entities continue to rocket ever higher. "The most important thing I'm hearing is a little bit of hysteria meets a little bit of confusion", Sachin Dev Duggal the founder of Builder AI tells Yahoo Finance's Julie Hyman and Ines Ferre. The man behind the platform that allows people to build software applications using the technology, says AI is "misunderstood" by businesses. Offering the promise of self-driving cars, high-intelligence chat bots and large-scale data analysis, companies are seemingly jumping on the bandwagon. "It's something new and everybody's talking about it," he says. "But it's coming with an equal dose of confusion, in terms of how they might use it, is it really new, will they have to change their labor hiring and labor patterns." Brett Winton, Co-Ark Investment Management Chief Futurist, also joined the conversation on Yahoo Finance Live, and weighed in on investment approaches when it comes to AI. "We actually think some of the interesting places to invest are companies that have deployed in-use assets and can deliver AI software to those assets," he says.
