Tesla sales rise in Norway and Spain, boosted by Model Y

STORY: Tesla sales rose in Norway and Spain in June, an early sign that some are buying its newly-revamped Model Y vehicle.Tesla had seen sales plunge in recent months to multi-year lows in its key European markets as CEO Elon Musk's relationship with U.S. President Donald Trump and embrace of far-right politics in Europe led to protests against his company, as well as vandalism at its showrooms and charging stations.The EV maker has suffered six straight year-over-year losses in quarterly new registration volumes across Western Europe, according to data from Schmidt Automotive, which said Tesla was on track for a seventh straight year-on-year loss.Tesla had not launched a new mainstream model since 2020, while traditional automakers have been rushing to produce more affordable electric cars.Meanwhile, Chinese rivals, such as BYD, have been rapidly taking market share.But the revamped Model Y, which arrived in many European markets in May and June, has helped boost Tesla's fortunes.Sales in Norway spiked last month by 54% annually, with Model Y sales up 115%, results the head of the Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association called "impressive."And in Spain, June sales increased by 60% annually, with Model Y sales up nearly 130%.The June data comes amid a renewed dispute between Musk and Trump regarding the U.S. president's sweeping tax-cut and spending bill.Shares of Tesla were down more than 4% in Tuesday morning trading...
